Killermont Parks Development Group

OPEN DAY planned for 20th June 2009 to celebrate the completion of the multi use ball court (formerly tennis courts) beside Killermont Parish Church on Rannoch Drive. All welcome!

New page added showing plans for the park

Shortly after we started, East Dunbartonshire Council offered us a significant level of funding which has been used to kick start the project and allowed us to install street lighting, extra benches and bins as well as some new play equipment.

With help from Killermont Primary and Boclair Academy we have managed to plant new bushes and liven up the plants in keeping with East Dunbartonshire's Bio Diversity plans.

To further encourage more indigenous species to grow and in turn encourage the return of small wildlife, bird and insects we have also changed the mowing routine. As the summer progresses, grass will not be cut around the outer edge of the play area, allowing wild flowers and meadow grass to grow.

During the spring of 2009 we planted a selection of local wildflowers in the 'uncut' area of grass as developed last year. This will encourage the formation of a local wild meadow and should promote insects and wild life in the park.

The old 'tennis courts' have now been resurfaced and fitted out with goal and basketball posts. There will be an 'open day' on 20th June 2009 to celebrate this achievement.

As part of our future development we've set up a short survey to try and assess what everyone wants for the Parks in this area. If you missed the popup survey or closed the window before completion you can click here to fill in our survey. Please encourage as many people as possible to fill this in
